In this seminar, participants will explore the fascinating ways that chronic stress affects various systems of the body. We will explore topics such as the effect of stress on the immune system, digestion, the heart, reproduction, and also on mental functions such as memory, learning, and depression. Much of the physiological responses to stress are protective initially but devastating in the long term. This course does not promote any particular method or approach to stress reduction, but asserts that a deeper understanding of the physiology of stress will help participants to manage it more effectively.
