Core Seminars

PNMT Low Back and Thoracic Spine (19 CEs)  (or take the two one day versions)

In the PNMT Low Back and Thoracic Spine seminar, you will learn how to efficiently evaluate and treat people with various types of back pain involving the lumbar and thoracic area. In order to accomplish this, you will learn to clearly identify the anatomical landmarks necessary for great palpation, identify and address the correct soft tissue structures that affect the stated pain pattern, and review how these soft tissue restrictions are tied to movement and everyday complaints.
Participants in this seminar will learn to assess the spine in multiple movement planes (flexion, extension, lateral flexion, rotation) and correlate muscular treatments with movement restrictions. Rather than memorize one-size-fits-nobody routines, emphasis is on problem solving skills and clinical reasoning. (More)

PNMT Upper Extremity (19 CEs)  (or take the two one day versions)

The PNMT Upper Extremity seminar is one of our most popular seminars and possibly the most practical hands-on workshop you will ever take. The list of upper extremity conditions we will address include frozen shoulder, rotator cuff problems, muscle tears, bursitis issues, nerve entrapment, and repetitive stress injuries of the arm/hand. Build your practice by creating results!     (More)

PNMT Lower Extremity (19 CEs)  (or take the two one day versions)

This seminar begins with a thorough assessment of the muscles of the hip, looking closely at muscular issues as well as the effect of hip pathology on joint function. Moving methodically down the leg, we will address conditions such as piriformis syndrome, knee pain, hamstring strains, plantar fascitis, and other common lower extremity pain patterns. The class is filled with practical applications to conditions that are commonly seen in everyday practice.  (more

PNMT Neck and Head (19 CEs) or  PNMT for the Cervical Spine (16 hours)

In a recent study, the likelihood of someone experiencing neck pain in a given year is about 23%. In other words, about 1 in 4 people will have a bout of neck pain this year, with the incidence rate being much higher in people who work in an office at a computer. These numbers translate to the massage table- neck pain will account for many of the visits to massage therapists this year.

The reality is, neck pain is complex. Releasing the suboccipitals can be wonderful in certain circumstances, disastrous in others. There is no routine that works for all the different iterations of possible neck issues. In PNMT, we don't teach routines, we focus in reasoning and problem solving. That takes time and expert guidance from the instructor. There is NO substitute for hands-on experience and the guidance of a mentor, especially in an area so small and complex as the neck.

We are now transitioning the PNMT Neck and Head to the 16 hour PNMT for the Cervical Spine. This difference between these seminars is that we are removing the basic TMJ treatment from the seminar as it is extensively addressed in the TMJ Intensive. We have also removed  a portion of the headache material, which will be delivered in an online format in a future date. We think this will lead to a better learning and retention environment.

PNMT Form and Function: Integrating Structural and Functional Assessment (16 CEs)

PNMT Form and Function is about clinical decision making, helping therapists increase effectiveness by treating the right muscle for the right reason. The wisdom (and the art) is in the choosing. Structural assessment is important, but must be done with speed and accuracy.  Moreover, how can you know that the structural asymmetry is related to the client's presenting symptom? By integrating functional assessment as well, this seminar can help you design treatment protocols that create measurable and immediate improvements for the client.
