Precision Neuromuscular Therapy
Precision Muscular Mobilization: The Spine
Two day class: 9AM to 6 PM (16 Continuing Education Hours)
When is a stretch more than just a stretch? When it’s a Precision Muscular Mobilization (PMM)! PMM is the culmination of the most specific and effective methods
of stretching available, bridging the focus of hands on techniques to practitioner assisted movements that are a welcome addition to any form of bodywork. Whether
you practice myofascial release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Swedish or Medical Massage, PMM can help make you a better therapist!
In this class we will at times be taking a microscopic look at the tissues and factors that affect flexibility and then taking a step back to look at the macroscopic
dimensions of movement. Complex and important topics will be explored and then broken down into simplistic and useful analogies utilizing simple models that can
be adapted for use with client education. Come delve with our curious instructors, the intricacies and joys of Precision Muscular Mobilization.
Have you ever wondered what shear, torsion, stress/strain really mean and how they relate to spinal pain? Are you looking for a more effective way to find, treat, and
resolve Trigger Points? Are you tired of so called “miracle” or “magic” techniques or routines? Do you want to be challenged to dive deeper into the science of
massage and bodywork? Do you want a greater understanding of mechanisms of pain and dysfunction in the spinal column and how to treat them? All of these
topics and more are covered skillfully in the Precision Muscular Mobilization for the Spine!
Participants in the PMM: Spine seminar will:
· Learn when and how to apply precise stretching techniques in a therapeutic setting.
· Learn quick and easy functional tests to determine exactly which muscles to stretch on each individual patient.
· Learn how to enhance the effectiveness of other healing modalities utilizing PMM procedures.
· Learn when it is not appropriate to apply stretching and what measures can still be utilized to help relieve patient’s pain.
· Learn about the various forces and factors that affect flexibility and how to determine treatment outcome based on easy to apply principles.
· Learn tools to help identify and localize pain generating areas, such as: intervertebral discs (IVD), nerve roots, joint capsules, trigger points, muscle strain and
contracture, and facet joints.
