Precision Neuromuscular Therapy
Precision Muscular Mobilization
What Is Precision Muscular Mobilization (PMM)?
PMM is a system, that at first glance seems as though it is mere simple stretching, however after the finer points of this
wildly effective form of therapy are fully appreciated, it is much more intricate and thoughtful than simply stretching. PMM
is about the precision of mobilization procedures applied to the soft-tissues of the body. Another way of saying this is
that the focus and goal of PMM is to make mobile the movable regions of the body, with consideration given to all of the
reasons for limitation of motion that could occur.
Muscular length is but a part of this seminar. Attention will also be given to learning and applying the principles and
practices of classical muscle testing. Incorporating this important piece helps to consolidate in the mind of the
practitioner the function and significance of each muscle examined and treated but furthermore enhances your
assessment repertoire.
In addition to muscle specific muscle tests and mobilization procedures, PMM incorporates oscillatory techniques to
relax and reintegrate the body region just mobilized but also then shows ways to challenge and encourage goal oriented
movements to the patient. Post treatment movements will be shown and emphasized during this class. The great
clinician Janet Travell had said that it was her goal to teach patients who to understand and utilize their bodies more
efficiently so that after they left her office, they would not need her consultation, treatment and time. We strive for and
feel the same way.
The last and newest addition to the Precision Muscular Mobilization Seminar series is the practice and application of
vapocoolants during lengthening procedures. Class participants will be free of charge fashioned with personal samples of
this spectacular and powerful tool.

Why Should You Take This Seminar...
Not unless you’ve had the incredible luck to have studied with the great masters of muscular manipulation such as the
late Janet Travell, Karl Lewit or Vladimir Janda has the specificity and thoughtful, thorough and spectacularly precise
nature of these techniques and treatments been matched and offered in a format available to students of manual
therapy. PMM is not like any other “stretching” seminar on the market to date. It takes from what these giants of our
field have set forth and builds on it to develop a complete therapeutic framework of its own.
Key to part of the framework and execution of this powerful modality is the understanding and appreciation of
myofascial trigger points. Emphasized as absolutely necessary by Dr. David Simons of the Travell and Simons
Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction manuals, post-treatment stretching and range of motion to muscles that harbor trigger
points will greatly potentiate effectiveness of other modalities performed. As propounded by the late Dr. Simons and
experienced in clinical practice by our organization, if muscles that harbor myofascial trigger points are not brought to
full length after treatment it is likely that they will reform. PMM excels at both identification, treatment and resolution of
the pain and dysfunction caused by trigger points and other myofascial aberrations.
A multitude of research has been set forth linking the preexistence of asymmetric agonist-antagonist length and
strength relationships in muscles and that of high risk in future injuries and debilities, both athletic and otherwise. PMM
teaches you to be firmly grounded in the understanding of examining patients in length, strength, and painful
movements in order to provide the most efficient, effective and elegant treatments available.
During your PMM experience you will be immersed in the roots of what all great manual therapy should require: highly
specific anatomy, appropriate physiologic understanding of mechanisms presented, pertinent current research, and a
sense of rich and historic legacy and lineage of great clinicians of the past.
PMM Testimonial
I use these techniques on a daily
basis and refer to my text at least a
couple times a month. I enjoyed
every minute of the extremity PMM
seminar and I'm excited just thinking
about taking the spine PMM.

What IS the difference between
massage therapists?
The difference isn't the massage, but the
ability to feel and convey information.
PMM has given me an additional layer of
information to provide to the system. Not
only does it deliver results, it feels great
leaving your clients with a greater sense
and appreciation for how their body is
interconnected.
