Precision Muscular Mobilization (PMM): The Extremities SeminarTwo day class: 9AM to 6PM (16 Continuing Education Hours) Precision Muscular Mobilization: The Extremities When is a stretch more than just a stretch? When it’s a Precision Muscular Mobilization (PMM)! PMM is the culmination of the most specific and effective methods of stretching available, bridging the focus of hands on techniques to practitioner assisted movements that are a welcome addition to any form of bodywork. Whether you practice myofascial release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Swedish or Medical Massage, PMM can help make you a better therapist! In this class we will at times be taking a microscopic look at the tissues and factors that affect flexibility and then taking a step back to look at the macroscopic dimensions of movement. Complex and important topics will be explored and then broken down into simplistic and useful analogies utilizing simple models that can be adapted for use with client education. Come delve with our curious instructors, the intricacies and joys of Precision Muscular Mobilization. PMM for the Extremities will examine in its entirety, both the upper and lower extremities. The appendages of the body have many unique functions and disorders of which they are susceptible. Even though the upper and lower extremities are functionally different, being able to examine and treat both in this seminar format helps greatly to notice and appreciate the similarity between some of the less well understood areas of the body: i.e. the forearm and hand muscles and the leg and foot muscles. In addition to the in depth coverage of anatomy, function, clinical considerations for each muscle, in this class functional interrelationships and myofascial trigger point chains are given time for discussion and understanding. To understand the extremities is to understand how they work individually, but in many ways more importantly, how they affect other areas of the body and how this can cause functional and painful disorders in disparate regions of the body.
