The Staff of PNMT
Kathy Tate Meyer
Surrounded by sports from an early age was a driving force with regard to Kathy pursuing a
career related to athletics. She received her BS in Physical Eduction from SIU at Carbondale in
1982. She went on to earn her MS in Education with a Specialization in Sports Medicine at
Illinois State University in 1984. She has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1985 and is a
member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Kathy initially worked in the high school setting for two years as an ATC/Teacher before working
as a Clinical Athletic Trainer for Carle Sports Medicine in Urbana, IL. She remained at Carle for
19 years where she worked with a large array of athletes, teams, coaches and parents both in
the clinical setting and within the community.
In 2003, Kathy earned her Massage Therapy Diploma from The Healthy Lifestyle School of
Massage Therapy in Muncie, IN. While in school, she quickly came to realize the powerful
impact Neuromuscular Therapy has on the body, especially in combination with Sports
Medicine. After gradualtion, Kathy pursued her PNMT Certification, completing it in 2006.
Kathy branched off into private practice in 2003, primarily utilizing Precision Neuromuscular
Therapy techniques. She treats athletes and/or active clients who have functional issues related
to their sport/activity. She also specializes in exercise (flexibility, strength/CORE) and
ergonomic instruction. As an athlete herself, she understands the mindset of an athlete and
enjoys the mental as well as the physical aspect of getting a client "back in the game". The
positive results that clients receive from Neuromuscular Therapy and Sports Medicine brings
great satisfaction.
Kathy and her family live in Champaign, IL. In addition to raising 2 sons, she is active in the local
running club, and enjoys cycling, tennis, hiking, gardening and reading.
